Region 1455's Coaching Excellence Program allows us to recognize our best and experienced coaches and reward them for their continued service and dedication to upholding AYSO's six philosophies. Our Master Coaches are considered our elite, most knowledgeable and experienced coaches. Master coaches have dedicated many years to making an awesome soccer experience for the kids, and we appreciate the generous donation of your time and energy.

    Recognition
Master Coaches will be rewarded with:

    • Master Coach Jacket - red full zip medium weight performance jacket, perfect for wearing during chilly training sessions and games, with the region logo and "Master Coach" on the left chest. This will be awarded once, when a coach attains master status.
    • Higher seniority on uniform selection - extra points for our uniform selection lottery prior to each season.
    • Higher seniority on practice time selection - greater chance of getting preferred time slot.
    • AYSO The Coaching Manual subscription.
    Qualifications
To qualify as a Master Coach, you must:

    • Be a head or assistant coach in the upcoming season.
    • Have completed every coach training course up to and including Intermediate. Any course 12U and higher must be done in-person and three of your total courses completed must be in-person. The remaining courses may be taken online. (For example, if you have completed 10U, 12U and Intermediate training in-person, you may do 6U and 8U online.)
    • Have completed at least three seasons as a Head Coach in three different divisions. (Divisions are based on required training. Thus, 5U & 6U are considered one division and 7U & 8U are considered one division.)
    • Have completed the Summary Laws of the Game online training course at aysou.org.
    • Have completed Regional Referee certification (must be in-person training class).
    • Have refereed (center) three games at 10U or higher.
    • Have RCA and staff approval.
    Expectations
As a Master Coach, you are expected to serve as a shining example of Positive Coaching and uphold AYSO's Six Philosophies. From time to time, we will ask you to step in as a substitute coach if a coach in any division is unable to attend a practice or game. We will likely ask you to mentor a less-experienced coach should they need some help with organization, practice planning, etc. and ask that you participate in our regional coach meetings and coaching clinics.
